As Sr. Research Engineer you will serve as the corporate administrator and technical lead for the following two areas relative to design engineering:
Corporate Analysis: Mechanical, Structural, Fluid Flow, Seismic and Heat Transfer (a plus to have but will train)
Corporate materials research: new product development and keeping current with technology and innovations
In this role, you will be part of the R&D group, with a strong knowledge of metallic materials relative to structural design, participate in NPI, and provide technical and material specifications (ASTM) support to other internal and external customers upon request.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Analysis: Mechanical, Structural, Fluid Flow, and Seismic:
Support all corporation departments as requested for all mechanical, structural, fluid flow, seismic and heat transfer analysis and approve their work if deemed necessary.
Verify analysis through testing when practical (hydro static, strain gauge, flow loop, field application tests, etc.)
Create and/or maintain standardized design and verification methods for the analysis software itself and for existing and non-existing in-house programs (Design Tools, etc.)
Train and mentor engineering personnel using software or in-house programs. Approve their work if deemed necessary.
EU PED and EU MD Program Compliance knowledge a plus.
Provide heavy support to the engineer in charge of materials for the creation and/or maintenance of metallic material specifications and their allowable substitutions for the corporation
Support all corporate departments for design-related issues for metallic materials as requested
New Product Identification:
Assist in the research of product needs
Develop and/or support new product concepts, including unique materials
Propose and develop technologies to fulfill customer needs
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with strong background in analysis (mechanical, structural, fluid flow, and heat transfer), testing, and metallic materials. MSME or advanced technical degree desired but not required.
6 years minimum experience in mechanical product design and development
Valve and actuator design experience a plus using applicable industry standards (AWWA, ASME, API, MSS, etc.)
Experience with various test methods (hydro static, strain gauge, flow loop, etc.)
Solidworks 3D modeling software to create and manipulate models to perform finite element analysis, including animations
Fundamentals of Engineering / Professional Engineering registration desired but not required
Experience with engineering policies and procedures, including working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements for design and development control and documentation
Ability to teach analysis and verification testing techniques to others through formal training and mentoring.
Salary - $80K-$114K + company bonus (Salary will be based on years of experience and industry)
